From the very beginning, let me tell you the 3-days trip I went with my friend was on rainy and dark autumn. But actually, every season has its own beauty and I thought to myself “Why not?”. To have 3 whole days is enough to explore the city and all its greatest locations you must see.
Brussels is the capital of both Belgium and the European Union. That’s why so many people come to see not only the main buildings of EU, but also multicultural city and its atmosphere.
So let’s talk about those 3 days of discovering. We began our trip with the most known place in Brussels – Grand Place. It’s greatness and splendour have showed me why tourists love this central square. It is surrounded by public and private buildings from 17th century. Also every corner of this central place is arranged with popular chocolate and souvenir shops. Tourists are all around from morning till late evening so there’s no doubt of this place popularity.
Another object of attraction is peeing boy Manneken Pis. For our and most of all people (who didn’t see it originally) disappointment, the sculpture was really tiny. Of course, the object was fenced but everyone was taking selfies with a great pleasure… As I’ve found out, this attractive place has many legendary stories and versions why this little peeing boy became so popular. Nowadays statue is dressed in different costumes according to schedule and different occasions. For example, the boy was dressed in Lithuanian men’s basketball team member outfit when was represented to Lithuanian city Kaunas Mayor Andrius Kupčinskas.
As I mentioned at the very beginning, The Atomium, symbol of Brussels and Belgium, is an international tourist attraction and should be and every tourist must-see list. This unique piece of architecture which height is 102 m, created on the occasion of the World Fair of Brussels and nowadays became the most popular monument of the capital of Europe. The most spectacular view you can see only from it’s top. You can walk around in its inside and have a great time to take a pictures with camera or sit at the restaurant and have a break before another unique discover.
That’s how I’m leading to tell you a little bit about Mini-Europe park which is close to the mentioned Atomium piece. On my mind, this park is truly beautiful idea to get closer to all European Union countries in one place in only a few hours! All countries and its well known places, buildings or events are represented in small but exact models. You can walk around and explore every country with the smallest details which are created so originally. The most important, everything you can see in an animated tour with visual and sound effects! Later I found out there was approximately 350 miniatures and attractions.
If you have one or half of day left to see the city of Brussels, I guess everyone should try best city chocolate shops which are located almost everywhere in centre. Or just try to taste waffles, larger or smaller. Belgium also lays claim to the Belgian beer. It depends on you what to taste!
After short trip to Brussels, I can say it is worth to see this city like every other in Europe. First of all, everyone should be ready to take a list of must-see objects and map. But don’t worry, to some purpose Belgians are known as helpful people, they are ready to help and assist in every situation so it’s no doubt if you choose to see Brussels, you’ll like it!
