The DigiFast Bootcamp, hosted in Jonava city, Lithuania, from November 25 to 29, 2024, offered a transformative experience for 15 participants of Roma background. The training was organized by Inovacijų biuras.
The Bootcamp offered participants an intense and rewarding journey into the digital world, blending creativity, teamwork, and practical learning into a transformative experience. Throughout the week, a diverse group of young individuals dove into understanding digital content creation, the fundamentals of social media, and essential communication skills. From the very first activities, they built a strong group connection by sharing their fears, expectations, and strengths, setting the tone for a safe and collaborative learning environment. They explored the different types of digital content, analyzed how influencers successfully engage their audiences, and discussed how various social media platforms can be used to create impactful messages.
Hands-On Digital Skill Building
As the Bootcamp progressed, participants got hands-on with digital tools. Many created their first email accounts, a foundational step toward professional communication. They discovered how artificial intelligence could support their creativity by using tools like ChatGPT and Gemini to draft motivational letters for job applications. Communication principles were reinforced through engaging activities where participants had to describe and decode messages, emphasizing the importance of clarity, active listening, and concise expression.
Understanding Marketing and Advertising
The experience expanded into the world of marketing, where participants learned how advertisements target different audiences and how brands build their messaging over time. They analyzed historical and modern advertisements, understanding the evolution of marketing techniques and what makes campaigns successful. They also explored zero-budget marketing strategies, learning how creativity and resourcefulness can drive promotion without the need for large financial investments.

Creativity in Digital Content Creation
Creativity truly flourished when participants began designing visual content using Canva. They created Christmas postcards, short promotional videos, and digital materials to practice real-world content creation. Despite some technical challenges, especially for those unfamiliar with digital tools, everyone received individualized support to ensure they completed their projects successfully. Through these tasks, they also touched on important topics like copyright, critical thinking, and respecting intellectual property.
Preparing for the Job Market
The final part of the Bootcamp shifted focus towards preparing participants for the job market. Discussions around job interview experiences highlighted common challenges like discrimination, lack of confidence, and language barriers, creating a shared space for reflection and mutual encouragement. Participants practiced answering tricky interview questions, built their confidence through body language exercises like the superhero pose, and developed CVs that showcased their skills and talents. A creative “speed-dating” style session helped them practice presenting themselves professionally and receiving feedback.
Achievements and Lasting Impact
By the end of the Bootcamp, participants had achieved major personal and professional milestones. They strengthened their digital literacy, becoming capable of navigating online platforms, creating digital content (both visual and video), and understanding marketing strategies. Their communication skills evolved noticeably: they learned how to express ideas clearly, adapt their messaging for different audiences, and present themselves confidently in professional situations. They became familiar with modern AI tools, which not only boosted their writing and creative skills but also enhanced their problem-solving abilities. The work on job interviews and CV writing empowered them with practical knowledge that will directly support their entrance into the workforce.

More importantly, they left with a new sense of confidence, creativity, and adaptability essential skills for today’s digital and professional landscape. The Bootcamp was more than just a training; it was a launchpad for participants to see new opportunities, believe in their abilities, and take charge of their personal and career growth.
Skill Achievements

Through these tasks, participants built concrete skills in graphic design, video production, digital writing, and strategic messaging, empowering them to navigate the digital world with confidence.
Inclusivity and adaptability were also critical achievements. Trainers tailored their methods to different literacy and digital familiarity levels, ensuring that everyone, regardless of experience, could engage and progress. Personalized support, especially for tasks like setting up email accounts or using laptops, allowed participants to advance at their own pace, making learning accessible and meaningful.
The Bootcamp further promoted cultural sensitivity. Participants’ realities were respected throughout, from protecting privacy to accommodating work schedules and addressing challenges like employment discrimination. This respectful environment encouraged deeper engagement and greater empowerment.
Finally, the Bootcamp set a strong foundation for future growth. Planned mentorship sessions starting from January 2025 will reinforce the skills acquired, helping participants apply their knowledge to real-world opportunities like job interviews, digital projects, and entrepreneurship.
